Duckies Dispensary, Ekkamai — A Cannabis Shop Built on Dutch Coffeeshop Standards and Living Soil Flower
Ekkamai has no shortage of cannabis dispensaries, but for anyone who wants to choose flower based on “who grew it” and “what conditions it was grown in,” Duckies Dispensary stands out as genuinely worth a visit.

Duckies Dispensary carries top-tier flower from a small-scale grower I personally know, and that connection shows in the level of care and attention to cultivation that’s difficult to replicate at scale.
For anyone in the Ekkamai area who wants to choose flower based on more than just price, factoring in the background and philosophy of the people growing it, Duckies Dispensary is a dispensary genuinely worth visiting. Here’s a full look at what makes it stand out.
What Makes Duckies Dispensary Worth Visiting

The defining feature of Duckies Dispensary is the owner’s partner, who spent years building real experience on the ground in the cannabis industry.
Coffeeshop Dizzy Duck is one of The Hague’s most established coffeeshops in the Netherlands. Rather than a flashy tourist-facing spot, it’s known as a shop that’s earned long-term loyalty from cannabis enthusiasts who care about quality. It carries a strong reputation for aroma and quality specifically, with a culture built around terpenes. The name is recognized among growers and enthusiasts internationally, and it’s considered one of the defining shops in Dutch coffeeshop culture.
He spent roughly four years working at Coffeeshop Dizzy Duck, a well-known coffeeshop in the Netherlands. The Netherlands carries one of the longest histories of cannabis culture globally, and the environment there brings together a concentration of growers, breeders, and cannabis enthusiasts. During his time there, he spent his days smoking freshly arrived flower alongside a wide range of customers, picking up a correspondingly wide range of perspectives along the way.
Working in that environment for years meant exposure to a huge range of flower and growers, and the experience needed to actually judge quality. Rather than choosing based on popularity or buzz alone, his approach of asking “why is this flower actually well-regarded” and “what conditions was it grown under” clearly comes from that depth of experience.
Living Soil is a cultivation method built around the natural ecosystem of microbes and fungi already present in soil, rather than relying on chemical fertilizer. The approach draws on the soil’s own capacity to support plant growth, and it demands considerably more time and knowledge than conventional methods. From what I gathered talking with him, the Duckies Dispensary owner rates this growing method highly and treats it as one of his key criteria when selecting flower, which says something about how much weight he puts on cultivation philosophy itself, not just the end result.
Having seen a large number of growers over the years, the factor he weighs most heavily when selecting flower is cultivation through Living Soil. His view is straightforward: no matter how good a flower looks or tests on paper, consistently producing high quality over time is difficult without genuine commitment to soil health. So the question isn’t just about the flower itself. It’s also about how the grower actually thinks about and relates to the soil.

There was a genuinely interesting personal discovery here. The grower he rated most highly turned out to be THE MELLOW FACE, a grower I’ve personally known for several years.
THE MELLOW FACE is a small home-grow operation run by a small team. They use a Living Soil Grown, Homemade Natural Input (KNF) Hand Watering System approach, building on Living Soil principles while incorporating Korean Natural Farming (KNF) philosophy through homemade natural inputs.
One detail that came up in conversation that genuinely got us talking was that watering is done entirely by hand rather than through automation. Large-scale commercial growing tends to prioritize efficiency, but this team has chosen to grow while checking the condition of each plant individually instead. Having tried their flower myself a number of times, the result is noticeably different from flower chasing pure numbers. There’s a sense of genuine craft in it.
The last time I’d talked to him, about a year ago, he mentioned there wasn’t yet any Bangkok dispensary carrying his flower. So finding it stocked at Duckies Dispensary was genuinely a surprise to me. Watching a grower’s long-term commitment to quality intersect with the discerning eye of someone who built his sense of quality in the Netherlands was a genuinely interesting thing to witness.

The other thing that genuinely surprised me was the pricing. Despite being a short distance from central Ekkamai, the fact that flower of this quality is priced the way it is here was honestly unexpected. The THE MELLOW FACE flower in particular stood out at its price point, and knowing their flower as well as I do, it felt like a genuinely fair price.
According to the shop, plenty of local Thai cannabis enthusiasts stop by regularly. Rather than pricing for tourists, the approach seems built around people who want to enjoy flower as a regular part of daily life, which likely explains part of why the shop has built up such a loyal local following.

One more thing I personally appreciated: their original t-shirt design. The back carries a message in Thai that translates to “a sustainable, balanced, healthy way of living,” and I was sold on it immediately. It’s sold in-store too, and makes a solid souvenir for anyone into cannabis culture.
3 Recommended Strains at Duckies Dispensary
What makes Duckies Dispensary worth visiting isn’t a shelf full of whatever’s popular. It’s a curated selection based on quality and cultivation philosophy the owner has actually verified. Built on years of experience from a Dutch coffeeshop, the selection reflects real consideration of how each grower thinks and works, and each strain carries its own distinct character as a result.
All three strains featured in this article were grown by two small-scale Thai farms, THE MELLOW FACE and Tropical Thunder, both of which I’ve had the pleasure of knowing personally for quite some time.
Talking through the selection in-store, every strain had a clear reason for being there, and the whole approach felt genuinely more interesting than chasing trends or lab numbers alone. Here are three that stood out. For background on terpenes, the dedicated terpenes article below is worth a read if you’re new to the topic.

Pink Sour Peaches lives up to its name. The sweet, juicy peach aroma is genuinely striking from the first inhale. It has the approachability of fruit candy, but the citrus brightness layered on top keeps the sweetness from getting heavy, and the whole thing stays juicy all the way through. A strain with a genuinely good balance between fruit density and freshness.
Medical Cannabis Strain Profile: Super Boof — A Juicy Profile Layering Tropical Fruit and Citrus/THE MELLOW FACE

Super Boof is a medical cannabis strain with a sweet, vivid aroma reminiscent of orange and tropical fruit. Juicy citrus character reminiscent of fresh orange juice sits at the center, layered with sweetness reminiscent of mango and berry, landing on a juicy profile with real depth. Super Boof has a genuinely juicy orange character, and the vivid aroma opens up the moment the bag is opened. Citrus brightness layers with tropical fruit sweetness, and the way the aroma develops over time has real depth to it. The balance between fresh fruit and dense sweetness is well done, and the flavor stays rich all the way through. A genuinely memorable strain.
Characteristics of Gelonade | A Refreshing Citrus Profile Layered with Lemon Sorbet and Creamy Sweetness/Tropical Thunder

Gelonade is a medical cannabis strain celebrated for its bright aroma reminiscent of lemon sorbet balanced by the smooth sweetness typical of Gelato genetics. Fresh lemon and orange notes are layered with soft vanilla-like creaminess and subtle herbal nuances, creating a vibrant yet refined profile. Its dominant terpene, Limonene, is naturally found in citrus fruits and gives the aroma its lively, refreshing character. The profile opens with freshly squeezed citrus before evolving into a creamy finish, reminiscent of lemon gelato or a citrus cream dessert.

Gelonade stood out the moment I opened the jar with its vibrant, freshly squeezed lemon aroma. Beyond the bright citrus notes, it also carries the smooth, creamy sweetness that’s characteristic of Gelato genetics, giving the profile a rounded and refined character rather than a sharp citrus edge. The balance between refreshing citrus and dessert-like richness makes it an easy strain to appreciate from the first aroma to the lingering finish. Among the flowers from THE MELLOW FACE, this was one of the most memorable citrus-forward cultivars I had the chance to experience.

Duckies Dispensary is roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk from Ekkamai BTS station. From the station, heading down Sukhumvit toward Phra Khanong and then toward Rama IV Road is the most straightforward route. It’s walkable, but given Bangkok’s heat, a motorbike taxi or Grab from Ekkamai BTS gets you there in about 5 minutes instead.
The area around Duckies Dispensary still holds onto a local character that’s becoming rarer in central Bangkok. Good-value Thai restaurants, distinctive small shops, and longstanding local stores are scattered throughout the neighborhood, and just walking around is enjoyable on its own. Worth taking the time to explore the area beyond just the dispensary visit.
